“It takes a Village” is a saying most commonly associated with raising children. However, it holds true for Health Information Exchange (HIE) as well. The idea for this blog culminated from the realization that HASA is in a unique situation, not only as being the aggregator of data for our regions, but also as the aggregator of some of the best talent and innovative minds in the Interoperability field today. As an HIE, our most effective strategy is to build relationships with our data contributors and vendors. HASA combines the most effective ideas and products from our IT vendors to bring the “best in class” elements together, making up the services we offer the community. Additionally, CIOs, CMIOs and IT professionals from all the major hospital systems in our regions help steer the ship and make sure that we are functioning at the highest standards for both workflows and data security.
The one overarching characteristic that HASA brings to the table is our status as non-profit, community collaborative, functioning as a neutral data partner in Texas. HASA is not “just another vendor,” but a partner, invested in improving health outcomes right here, where we live.
In today’s competitive market, health care providers can think of us a utility, like electricity and water services. Healthcare technology companies see HASA as a place to work together to showcase their unique strengths, because we all know we can’t do it on our own.
Check back weekly and we’ll introduce you to some of these talents and get their perspectives on Interoperability and current events. To kick off our series, listen to this interview with our own, Phil Beckett, CIO of HASA, talking with Matt Langan from Rosetta Health about the upcoming HIMSS 2018 Conference. HASA will be joining IMAT Solutions, SocialClime, and Shatzkin Systems at the RosettaHealth HIMSS 2018 “Community” booth #11418 – to showcase how it truly takes a community cast of startups, HIEs, and vendors to make health data exchange truly work.
